Argentine Bahia grass seed is commonly used for lawn and pasture across the southern states including Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, south east Oklahoma, north east and south east Texas and south west California. It makes an excellent, low maintenance permanent lawn grass or pasture grass for horses, cattle and any other type of livestock. It is very drought tolerant, deep rooted and has exceptional disease and insect resistance.
Argentine Bahia is used extensively in Florida and other coastal areas for pasture. It is widely used in wetter areas because of its ability to withstand water. However, it is susceptible to cold and this results in winter kill of stands planted anywhere north of around Tifton, Georgia. It is best planted in full sun areas and doesn't need as much water to survive and flourish as the more commonly-used Saint Augustine lawn grass seed varieties.
• For new lawns plant 5lbs. to 10 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft.
• To over seed an existing lawn - bare spots can be easily filled in by spreading the area by hand or with a spreader. To over seed the entire lawn use 2lbs. to 5 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. after removing as much unwanted dead or living vegetation.
• For pasture plant 25lbs. to 100 lbs. per acre - 25 lbs. takes 12 to 24 months to fully sod the pasture
Argentine Bahia comes in a 50 lbs bag. $160 per bag
