What is Bermuda Unhulled used for?

Bermuda unhulled grass is an ideal low maintenance, drought resistant lawn or pasture for the southern third of the United States. Millions of pounds of this fast growing seed are planted every year as lawns, general purpose pasture, forage, hay, erosion control, roadsides, professional sports fields and parks.

Hulled and unhulled Bermuda varieties are available. Hulled seed has had part of the protective seed coat mechanically removed to speed up germination. Unhulled seed still has the seed coats attached. Some seed may germinate early and others will lie dormant until conditions are more favorable for germination - even months later. Grassing contractors will often plant a 50/50 mix of both hulled and un-hulled seed to ensure the successful establishment of a planted area.

What are the best growing conditions for Bermuda Unhulled?

Bermuda unhulled grass is adapted for a wide range of soil types from sandy to clay soils, but is best suited to the southern states on well-drained sites. Very drought tolerant but can still stand flooding for short periods.
